Creating Smiles in the Dominican Republic

Synergy's Mark Comer, Double Presidential Executive, and his two boys, Chase (9) and Easton (7), are lifting spirits and creating smiles all across the Dominican Republic.

Through the efforts of the Highland Hitmen, a local youth baseball team who Mark coaches, they were able to put together gloves, bats, helmets, baseballs and cleats to donate to children in the DR. As you may know, baseball is by far the most popular sport on the island. In fact, today many DR natives currently play in the major leagues in the United States.

While in Santo Domingo, the Comers visited several neighborhoods in search of baseball "clubs" where the children were in need of equipment. Mark noted that in several areas it was "amazing to see the condition of the gear as well as the fields."

The initial plan was to visit three areas and give out baseball gear, however, after seeing the desperate need at just one field, they gave out most of the equipment there. In the meantime, Mark has communicated with friends and coaches back in Utah who are now putting together additional bags of gear so they can still visit two more areas.

In addition to donating baseball gear, they were also able to visit orphanages and supply milk, rice, diapers, candy, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Spirits are being lifted and smiles are definitely being created all across the Dominican Republic! A big thanks to Mark Comer, 5 Star Legacy, and all the parents, coaches and children who participated in donating items for this inspiring humanitarian effort.
